Our Story

Why We Built This

It started with a 4 AM rideshare surge. One of our founders, heading from La Jolla to LAX for a 7 AM flight, watched the Uber price jump from $80 to $160 in real time. He took it anyway — and arrived at the airport frazzled, sleep-deprived, and $160 poorer.

Sound familiar? If you live in San Diego and fly frequently, you know the drill. Driving yourself means fighting LAX traffic and paying $40+ per day in parking. Rideshares are unpredictable in price and pickup time. The FlyAway bus no longer runs from San Diego. Amtrak takes 3+ hours. There's simply no good option.

We are two San Diegans who got tired of the same broken experience every frequent traveler complains about. We spent months researching the corridor, talking to hundreds of SD-to-LAX travelers, and building a model that makes premium shuttle service economically viable at a price people will actually pay.

SoCal LAX is that service. A clean, comfortable, on-time shuttle that picks you up at a convenient north San Diego or Old Town stop and delivers you directly to your terminal. No drama. No surge. No stress. Just show up, sit down, and arrive ready to fly.

FAQ

Common Questions

We are targeting Summer 2026 for our first commercial departures. Waitlist members will receive early-access booking windows and locked-in founding pricing before tickets go on sale to the public.
Old Town Transit Center is served by the San Diego Trolley (Green & Blue Lines) and numerous bus routes — easy to reach from downtown, Mission Valley, and Mission Hills. The Sorrento Valley / Del Mar stop has ample free street parking and is near the COASTER train station.
Cancellations with more than 24 hours notice receive a full refund. Last-minute changes can be applied as a credit toward a future trip. Flight delays do not affect your shuttle reservation, but we will work with you to find an alternative departure if needed.
Yes. Each passenger may bring one carry-on bag (overhead storage) and one checked bag stored in the undercarriage at no extra charge. Additional bags or oversized items (surfboards, strollers, sports equipment) may incur a small fee.
Traditional shuttles make many stops and can add 45–60 minutes of detours. We run a fixed, optimized route with only two pickup stops, so you know exactly when you will arrive. Every seat is reserved — no standing, no overbooking. We also include WiFi, charging, and snacks that most rideshares don't offer at this price.
Service animals are always welcome. We plan to offer select pet-friendly departures for small pets in carriers — stay tuned for details closer to launch. If this matters to you, let us know in the waitlist form.
Waitlist members receive email and optional SMS updates about the launch timeline, founding pricing, and early booking windows. We will not spam you — expect roughly one update per month leading up to launch.
